⭐ SOUTH ALIVE NEWS ⭐

What’s been happening…

  • World Kindness Day – wow what a day!

South Alive and The Pantry was abuzz on Saturday 12 November and it was incredible to see so many people here enjoying what was on offer as we celebrated World Kindness Day.

There was an amazing amount of donations that came forward for the Pay it Forward Household goods giveaway, hundreds of shoes given away by The Shoe Booth, and fabulous entertainment. We were also blown away by the huge number of volunteers who came along and gave their time (especially starting early at 7.30am) so we want to say a massive thanks to you all!!

South Alive Annual Survey – there is still time to share your views about South Invercargill by clicking the blue button below, as we are keeping the survey open until Sunday 4 December.

But we are excited to share some incredible results already coming in, with 93% of people surveyed feeling a sense of pride in South Invercargill! We are also getting lots of great ideas of things we could do to build even more pride, and improve South Invercargill. Once we have collated all of the results we will be sharing these with everyone and they will help shape our plan for the year ahead.

Massive thanks to Plants South for donating these vegetable seedlings for our garden here at South Alive and for the community to grow some amazing vegetables at home.

We also donated half of the plants to our local 9812 zoned schools, Aurora College, Fernworth Primary, New River Primary, Newfield Park and Te Aho Matua Kohanga Reo for their school gardens.

Support Plants South when you can – located at 740 North Road.
Plants South is a family business, focusing on providing affordable, quality plants so go and check them out.

THANK YOU to NZ Aluminium Smelter (Tiwai) for recent funding from their Sponsorship and Donations Programme which allowed us to put some more security cameras up in our community space.

Keep hilling up your potatoes shaws.

As its getting pretty dry, keep watering early morning or late evening,  giving the soil a good soak.

Start getting your brassica seeds sorted for Winter to sow in December. Cauliflower, kale, cabbage, brussels sprouts and broccoli.  They are heavy feeders, manure the patch well, and compost when planting out.
