Who We Are
South Alive is an urban rejuvenation project, led by the community, with the goal of identifying the best possible future for South Invercargill and ways to make it happen.
It was established in 2012 with a small steering group, which then held a public meeting in April 2012 to generate ideas and decide priorities. Action teams of volunteers formed around each of the priority areas, and have been working since then to develop and implement projects.

As part of a community-led project, this 4.5km trail celebrates the pride of South Invercargill and offers local history for all to enjoy 🚶♂️. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, especially Brian Simon and Bill Donaldson, life member of the Appleby Cricket Club, for unveiling the panel 🎉. Stay tuned for an upcoming televised story, showcasing Appleby in 2025! 🎥

Ngā mihi to our friends at Plants South and our Volunteer Jess, for supporting our lil' pals of Kew Kindergarten, Invercargill in their Bucket Gardening project at South Alive today 🪣
They planted peas, pak choy, broccoli and cabbage, then proudly took their buckets back to Kindy to watch the plants grow and share them with their whānau. 🫛🥬🌱🥦
